Sustainability Criteria For Accommodation Of The Tudestino Sostenible Norm V. 1.0
In order to facilitate the adoption of the different aspects of sustainability incorporated in the Tudestino Sostenible Norm, Tudestino Sostenible has a list of optimal criteria that serve as a reference to demonstrate adequate performance in terms of sustainability by hotel establishments.
For the drafting of these criteria, all the specific regulations of each area included in the Tudestino Sostenible Norm have been taken into account. Likewise, the different goals associated with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations Organisation have been taken into account, in order to align all the initiatives and actions carried out by the accommodations with them.
These criteria and the goal(s) with which they are aligned are listed below:
1. Criteria for the Management and Prevention of Waste in Accommodation.
1.1. The accommodation must have a Waste Plan or a separate collection system in place. (*)
1.2. The accommodation must have installed container islands in all rooms of the accommodation (bedrooms, common areas, work areas, etc.).
1.3. The establishment must take action to prevent the use of packaging. (*)
2. Criteria for the Management of Water Consumption and Water Sanitation in Accommodation
2.1. The accommodation shall have installed efficiency improvement systems for the reduction of consumption in taps in the rooms and in the rest of the accommodation facilities.
2.2. The establishment must have water-saving or efficient systems in the equipment of rooms and other facilities. (*)
2.3. The accommodation shall have a laundry service equipped with efficient equipment.
2.4. Facility staff should be trained in the correct use of water and the prevention of water wastage.
2.5. The accommodation shall carry out awareness-raising measures on water saving and water pollution prevention for its staff and guests.
2.6. The accommodation shall have measures for water reuse (e.g. use of grey water for toilet flushing or watering of green areas).
3. Criteria for Energy Management and Energy Efficiency in Accommodation
3.1. The establishment must have measures in place to optimise energy consumption. Energy supply management energy supply through renewable sources or energy supply companies with Guarantee of Origin will be positively valued. (*)
3.2. The establishment should encourage the supply of energy from renewable sources through energy suppliers with Guarantee of Origin or by installing its own systems for self-consumption.
3.3. The establishment should incorporate equipment and measures to promote lighting efficiency.
3.4. Both the establishment and the most relevant equipment in terms of energy must have Energy Efficiency Certificates.
4. Criteria for Workplace Climate Management in Accommodation
4.1. The establishment must adopt Occupational Risk Prevention measures that go beyond the legally applicable requirements.
4.2. The establishment shall promote measures to foster a good working climate and decent working conditions. (*)
4.3. The establishment shall have an Equality Plan or, failing that, measures to promote equality. (*)
4.4. The establishment shall have a continuous training plan or training measures in place to promote the updating of staff skills.
5. Supply Chain Management Criteria for Accommodation Supply Chain Management
5.1. The facility has documents that facilitate the description of the supply chain in terms of suppliers, products and how they are related to sustainability. (*)
5.2. When purchasing products and contracting services, the establishment shall consider sustainability in the selection process. (*)
6. Criteria for Sustainable Mobility Management in Accommodation
6.1. The establishment shall promote sustainable mobility internally, for its staff and suppliers. (*)
6.2. The establishment shall promote sustainable mobility internally, for its customers and other users. (*)
7. Criteria for the Management of the Circular Economy in Accommodation
7.1. The establishment shall identify those products and materials where it is possible to assess circular economy aspects. (*)
7.2. The establishment shall adopt eco-approach and eco-design criteria in its business..
7.3. The establishment shall incorporate reusable or recyclable materials in its supply chain.
7.4. The facility will incorporate materials made from recycled or re-used materials into its supply chain.
7.5. The establishment shall apply waste prevention actions to its supply chain. (*)
7.6. The establishment will incorporate products with Environmental Certificates or Standards: (FSC, BCorp, European Ecolabel, etc).
8. Criteria for Climate Change Management and Carbon Footprint in Accommodations
8.1. The establishment shall periodically carry out a Carbon Footprint Calculation derived from its activities.
8.2. The site shall have a Carbon Footprint Reduction Plan in place and shall periodically evaluate its implementation and the results achieved.
8.3. The establishment shall perform the calculation and register it in the SACE or in the MITERD register.
9. Criteria for the Management of Corporate Social Responsibility in Accommodation
9.1. The establishment shall carry out actions aimed at generating an environmental legacy.
9.2. The establishment will carry out actions aimed at generating a social legacy.
